A six day workshop on branch /institutional viability of Grameen Replication Projects (GBRP) was held in Bangladesh from June 27 to July 3 , 1997 under the auspices of Grameen Bank and Grameen Trust.
Eight participants from Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Tanzania took part in the workshop . The objective was to assist GBRPs to develop an action plan to attain financial viability starting at the branch and ultimately at the institutional level, within the shortest time possible.
There were discussions on key issues and factors which GBRPs should take into account in order to reach viability.Computer model on branch/institutional viability , developed by Grameen Trust was also demonstrated to the participants.
Later participants entered relevant data of their own programs in the computerised decision support system to work out plans for attaining branch /institutional viability. In the concluding session these plans were presented by the participants as practical action plans to be implemented by the respective projects in future.
