Nobel Exhibition Inaugurated
At Grameen Bank Towe

Special exhibitions commemorating the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Professor Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank in 2006 has been inaugurated at Grameen Bank Tower on July 17, 2008. The Nobel Peace Prize Exhibition is on display at the ground floor of Grameen Bank Tower, while the exhibition entitled "Jobra to Oslo" has been installed on the 11th floor. The 11th floor also houses the Grameen Archives that has on display various awards, certificates, medals and gifts presented to Professor Yunus and Grameen Bank.

As part of the events to celebrate the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Professor Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank in 2006, the Nobel Peace Center organized an exhibition in Oslo portraying the work of Professor Yunus and Grameen Bank. The exhibition was inaugurated in Oslo by Professor Yunus during the award celebrations, and remained open for one year.

At the initiative of the Nobel Peace Center and the Royal Norwegian Embassy, the exhibition, entitled: "Jobra to Oslo," has been reproduced and installed on the 11th floor of Grameen Tower. The exhibition depicts through photos the story of Grameen Bank from its start in the village of Jobra, as well as the global impact of microcredit and its crowning moment of being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 in Oslo, Norway. The exhibition also has audio-visual displays on Grameen and Nobel Peace Prize.

The Nobel Peace Prize Exhibition at the ground floor of Grameen Bank tower preserves for history the memorable moments of the Nobel Prize journey. The exhibition chronicles the newspaper headlines in Bangladesh and around the world of Grameen's Nobel Prize award, and has large photographs of Grameen delegation's visit to Oslo, Norway to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed, Honorable Chief Adviser of the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh inaugurated the Nobel Peace Prize Exhibition at the Grameen Bank headquarters on July 17, 2008. Professor Ole Danbolt Mjøs, Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Peace Prize Committee attended the opening as the Guest of Honour and Ms. Bente Erichsen, Director of the Nobel Peace Center was also present as Special Guest.
Students and other civic groups are encouraged to visit The Nobel Peace Prize Exhibitions and the Grameen Archives. Visits can be arranged through the International Department of Grameen Bank.
