Professor Yunus to visit Germany, Ghana and Tanzania Print

Professor Muhammad Yunus have meetings with President Horst Kohler, Chancellor Angela Merkel, Finance Minister Peer Steinbruck, Development Minister Heidemarie Wieczorek Zeul to discuss issues relating to G8.
During his stay in Germany, Professor Muhammad Yunus will have meetings with President Horst Kohler, Chancellor Angela Merkel, Finance Minister Peer Steinbruck, Development Minister Heidemarie Wieczorek Zeul to discuss issues relating to G8. Professor Yunus will participate at the Vision Summit in Berlin wher he will receive the Vision 2007 award. He will accorded receptions by Bertelsmann Foundation and Karlsruhe University. He is also expected to address 60,000 young people at the "Music and messages" concert that will take place in Rostock on June 7 while the G8 Summit which takes place in nearby Heiligendamm. On June 9, Professor Yunus will share stage with Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss the fight against poverty during the Church Day Events in Cologne.

From Germany, Professor Yunus will travel to Accra, Ghana for a meeting of the Africa Progress Panel with President Kufuor. Professor Yunus is a member of the the Panel, together with Mr. Kofi Annan and Ms Graca Machel among others. The panel seeks to focus world attention on pressing issue in Africa including poverty, trade, debt and infectious disease.

Professor Yunus will then travel to Tanzania on invitation of H.E. President Kikiwete. He will have bilateral meetings with President in Dodoma, and meet with the Tanzanian finance minister, central bank governor, representatives of mocrofinance institutions and business community in Dar Es Salaam.

Professor Yunus returns to Dhaka on June 14.
