Review of the Honeywell Vision Pro 8000 Thermostat
Product Description: Honeywell Vision Pro 8000 digital thermostat (model # TH8110U1003). This was purchased and installed in my house as part of my recent new furnace installation.
Review: Even though it was highly recommended by a number of furnace dealers, I was actually very reluctant to purchase a new thermostat. I already had a digital thermostat that was only a couple years old and, since it worked just fine, I thought a new one was going to be a big waste of money. However, as it turns out, I couldn’t be happier about this upgrade.
There are a couple of things I really like about this particular thermostat. For one, I like the fact I can program the timer by a particular day. Our old one didn’t allow me to do this (I only had the choice between weekday and weekend) and, since we aren’t always away from the house at the same time each day, there were a lot of days when the heat would turn down or turn up when we really didn’t want it to. That hasn’t been a problem with this product.
Another thing I like about this thermostat is the timer option that pops up whenever I manually override the heat. This comes in very handy on cold nights when I want to leave the heat turned up a little longer than originally planned because I don’t have to worry about manually turning it back down or reprogramming the pre-set schedule. That, again, was not something I could do with my old thermostat.
The LED display on this thermostat is also a nice bonus. Our hallway can get very dark at night and, before, I would either have to grab a flashlight or risk waking my wife up by turning on the hall light (we sleep with our door open) whenever I wanted to check or change the temperature. I don’t have to do that with this particular thermostat.
Final Opinion: As I said before, I wasn’t anxious to make this particular change. However, after doing it, I can honestly say I’m glad I did. If you are looking for a new thermostat, this is one I would recommend.
